Our Services

Physiotherapy

Our physiotherapists are all highly skilled clinicians with years of experience working in NHS, Private and Sports Physiotherapy settings. We are proud to say they have all worked with elite, world-level athletes and form a team with clinical skills and knowledge unmatched across Bristol.

Here at RISE we have a passion for exercise and sports…

We have a particular focus on the rock climbing and endurance running communities due to our location and contacts. With our setting in the Rise Pilates Studio we also have a real passion for bringing up lower levels of fitness and confidence, from pre and post-natal rehabilitation and returning to running and fitness post pregnancy, so rebuilding peoples’ strength and capacity after surgery.

The Rise Physiotherapy Approach

We take a unique approach to the physiotherapy process; none of this “keep coming back in two weeks” which seems so commonplace. One thing we won’t do is tell you to stop doing what you love; we aim to enable your lifestyle and activities. Whether you’re 25 or 65, a weekend runner or a diehard rock climber, the Rise Physiotherapy approach will work for you.

Stage 1

Total Assessment and Physiotherapy Goal Setting

At your first Physiotherapy appointment we’ll take a detailed history of your problem and exercise history, followed by a thorough assessment of your problem areas and your global posture and biomechanics. We then set your physiotherapy goals, discussing the pros and cons of available physiotherapy, massage and other treatment options and acknowledging your own role in reclaiming your health and fitness. Defining clear, realistic goals at the start of your journey with us is essential; you’ve got to know where you are heading.

Stage 2

Early Physiotherapy Treatment Phase

If you are injured and currently in pain then the first physiotherapy sessions are all about managing your pain levels, educating you on your condition and adapting your exercise and activity to optimise recovery. This usually involves manual therapy such as sports massage, mobilisation, manipulation and myo-fascial techniques, and frequently involves assisted exercise, relaxation techniques and pain management education.

Stage 3

Recovery
Programming

This starts hand in hand with your early pain management and continues until you meet your physiotherapy goals. Recovery programming is about creating an achievable set of rehabilitation measures that fit into your lifestyle. Negotiated between you and your physiotherapist, this covers everything from the physiotherapy methods used, the regularity of treatment sessions and the types of home exercises prescribed, down to your overall training volumes, your sleep patterns and diet.

Stage 4

Functional fitness and self-management

This is the final stage getting you back to fitness, back to sport and back to life. It involves functional, full body exercises aimed at achieving your specific physiotherapy goals. Where necessary these sessions can be arranged at the most appropriate venue for you across bristol; your gym, climbing wall or sports field. Once recovered we’ll leave you with a personalised maintenance programme and the knowledge and skills to ensure you minimise the risks of re-injury.

Why have Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy involves enhancing or restoring physical ability and performance, through functional screening, manual therapy, pain management, recovery and exercise therapies- enabling you to get the best from your body, whether you are recovering from an injury or illness, looking to regain former fitness or training for a specific goal.

Physiotherapists are regulated health professionals that undertake years of training in a medical environment to qualify, and they are legally bound to stay up to date, safe and use informed, evidence based techniques. They are no ordinary exercise professionals; they work with a huge range of conditions across the full scope of environments, from rehabilitating stroke patients or post-orthopaedic surgery to supporting the English Institute of Sport and Team GB in the Olympic games.

TESTIMONIALS

“I started seeing Simon due to a finger injury a few years ago. He was very quick to diagnose what wrong and gave me a great rehab plan! Since then I have seen him for pretty much any niggle I have- finger, knee, you name it! It’s great because Simon understands how important climbing and moving is to me- being in the GB Climbing Team being able to train is pretty important! So all his rehab and recovery still involved some form of training so I could get back to full strength ASAP! Could not recommend highly enough!

– Rhoslyn Frugtniet

“His unlimited psych for sport, exercise and rehab always spurred me on to complete all my exercises which was a key part of my recovery. All injured climbers should just book in with him now as you’ll be climbing hard again sooner if you do!
