Tyler Steele
Upper Limb & Climbing Specialist Physiotherapist
Tyler is a specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapist with expertise in hand, wrist and upper limb conditions, alongside a focus on climbing-related injuries. He works within the specialist Hand Unit at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, managing complex trauma and post-operative cases in close collaboration with orthopaedic consultants.
This role provides extensive experience in the assessment and rehabilitation of complex hand and wrist conditions, including ligament injuries, instability presentations and surgical recovery. He supports patients through all stages of rehabilitation, from early protection through to return to full function and performance.
Tyler also treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions across the whole body. His approach combines detailed objective assessment, structured rehabilitation and hands-on treatment, with a focus on restoring strength, control and confidence. He takes a holistic approach, considering both physical and behavioural factors to support long-term outcomes.
As a high-level climber himself (bouldering to V10), Tyler has a strong understanding of the demands of the sport and climbing-specific injury management. He works with climbers from recreational level through to Team GB, including managing complex presentations such as finger stress fractures in paediatric athletes, allowing him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and performance “
